A comparison of Jason-2 plasmasphere electron content measurements with ground-based measurements

چکیده

Abstract. Previous studies utilizing the Global Positioning System (GPS) receivers aboard Jason satellites have performed measurements of plasmasphere electron content (PEC) by determining total (TEC) above these satellites, which are at altitudes about 1340 km. This study uses similar methods to determine PEC for Jason-2 receiver 24 July 2011. These values compared previous determinations from a chain ground-based GPS in Africa using SCORPION method, with nominal ionosphere–plasmasphere boundary 1000 The PECs elevations greater than 60∘ were converted equivalent vertical and determinations. In addition, slant (off-vertical) small set nearly co-aligned PECs. latter comparison avoids any conversion PEC, it can be considered more representative comparison. mean difference between (ground-based minus measurements) is 0.82 ± 0.28 TEC units (1 unit=1016 electrons m−2). Similarly, 0.168 0.924 units. method may provide reliable determination baseline value receivers, especially if ground stations confined only midlatitude or low-latitude regions, affected non-negligible baseline.

Ground Based Measurements of Solar UV Index in Tabriz

Introduction: Ultraviolet index (UVI) is a dimensionless scale, which describes the maximum intensity and biologic effects of UV during a specific time, on surface of the earth. The UVI is  an  international  standard measurement of  the  strength  of sunburn  producing ultraviolet radiation at a particular place and time. This index is an easy and understandable concept for pr...

Ground-Based Microwave Radiometer Measurements

This particular site and time of year was chosen by ARM because it offers a high probability of clearsky, and also a wide range of integrated water vapor amounts. To supplement the routine observing capabilities during the WVIOP2000, a powerful array of tools for measuring water vapor was deployed at the SGP Central Facility area. A comprehensive suite of airborne in situ and ground-based remote
